Global Bank

Design of future-state financial messaging strategy

Faced with the decommissioning of support for its SWIFT FIN messaging technology platform, this global bank needed advice with regard to their strategic and technological replacement options beyond pure SWIFT messaging – to make the move towards a unified financial messaging backbone across all functions, applications and regions

What did we do?

:: projective developed a future state blueprint that included the detailed outline of a functional model, organisational model, a logical application architecture as well as a supportive financial investment case, migration approach and long-term roadmap – all of which combined would deliver the bank’s full future financial messaging solution

What we delivered:

Future state target operating model for financial messaging including logical application architecture, organisational model, functional and business service models

A business case model with project financial and non-financial benefits, including costs of the messaging strategy (with an internal pricing model)

A detailed roadmap for the implementation of the future state operating model, architecture and organisation, including issues and risk and mitigation options

Key activities involved:

Recommendation of a shared services operating model for financial messaging (SWIFT FIN, NET and non-SWIFT), to be implemented across a three-year timescale)

Business benefits:

Potential for the client to deliver a RTB cost base reduction of 35-50% (resulting to > €200 mio in cumulated savings)

Improved value added services, quality and increase of technology robustness
